Last Friday, a friend and I were invited by Booglie to attend Torture Chamber Pro Wrestling's Ultimate 8 Junior Heavyweight Tournament. Let me start out by saying, we were blown away!
We arrived about 15 minutes late, not enough to miss any action, but just enough to be seated at the back of the arena. Surprisingly, it was a sold out show with 258 in attendance. I am not sure how many were there for the last event we went to, NCW Tag Team Turmoil in January, but it felt like a much larger crowd. In general, I love one-night tournaments, especially with talent that I might not be entirely familiar with. Most the names I had heard of, but I had not seen all of them wrestle before.
Before I get to the tournament itself, we were treated to a handful of non tournament matches throughout the night which really rounded out the card. Walking in, we were excited to know that there were 11 matches on the card and a bit sceptical as to how they were going to fit it all in. Pleasantly surprised, all the matches were given just the right amount of time and were extremely entertaining.
On the drive home, my friend and I were discussing WrestleMania XXX and how disinterested we were in the event this year and contemplating not even watching it. Jokingly, I said that were were probably more entertained tonight at Ultimate 8 than we would be at WrestleMania this year. The more we thought about it, the more we were probably right. The guys tonight put on a incredible show and when you think about it, the majority are current students of the wrestling school. It's crazy to think that what we saw that night could compare to the biggest event in the industry, and on paper, it probably does not, but in person, we came out of it two more-than-happy campers. Bravo guys, you deserve it!

Non Tournament Matches
Dru Onyx va Surfer Mitch Thompson
Great opening match. Dru Onyx is a real veteran and knows how to drive a match. And with the winner of last year's tournament, it was great to showcase what the tournament can do for you long-term.
Winner: Mitch Thompson via 450 Splash
Triple Threat Match
Steve Sullivan vs Marc Mercer vs Olympico
Nice triple treat match with great pacing.
Winner: Olympico via pinfall
NWA British Commonwealth Championship Match
Pat Guénette (c) vs Mark Estrada
Mark Estrada tried his best but it was not good enough against the champ.
Winner: Pat Guénette via submission
NWA Canadian Tag Team Championship Match
Project Damka (c) vs Les Fils de la Liberté
I love both teams so seeing them battle was a real treat with the dastardly heels sneaking out a win.
Winners: Project Damka via underhanded rollup
Ultimate 8 Round 1
Justin Turnbull vs Booglie
Hard hitting match with Turnbull bleeding from the nose; looked like he broke it.
Winner: Booglie via submission
Ivan Sullivan vs Eddy Erdogan
Not a big reaction for Ivan Sullivan, seemed to be the theme of the evening.
Winner: Ivan Sullivan via top rope stomp
HC Ryder vs Travis Toxic
Wow! Both guys had a great match, but Travis Toxic really stood out this evening.
Winner: Travis Toxic via his finisher
Volcano vs Leon Saver
Great match with an impressive finish!
Winner: Leon Saver via Moonsault Side-Slam
Ultimate 8 Round 2
Booglie vs Ivan Sullivan
Booglie, who was obviously the fan favorite, was robbed as Ivan Sullivan gets the win on this one. The crowd was really displeased with this finish. Most of them were expecting Booglie to win the tournament.
Winner: Ivan Sullivan via pinfall
Travis Toxic vs Leon Saver
In what won Match of the Night, Travis Toxic put on a great show against Leon Saver which earned him the High Flyer of the Night award as well.
Winner: Leon Saver via Super Kick
Ultimate 8 Final Round
Ivan Sullivan vs Leon Saver
And in the Ultimate 8 Tournament Finals, the crowd was dead for the first half of the match as they were quiet for Ivan Sulivan in general and disappointed that Booglie was not in the finals. The crowd got into it late in the game as Leon Saver was able to generate some momentum on his side. He still managed to come up short to the winner of the Submission of the Night award as well as the winner of the tournament.
Winner: Ivan Sullivan via his finisher off the top rope
