Title Picture: January 2014 #montreal #wrestling

Every month, we will recap the title matches from each promotion. Here is the current title picture of the Montreal pro wrestling scene for January 2014.

On January 4th, NCW held it's annual Tag Team Turmoil event. On this night, the Championnat par Équipe de la NCW was on the line an unprecedented 3 times. In the first round, Les Injusticiers came up short in their attempt to defend the tag titles against Les Titans. Les Titans' second round opponents were Les Colosses. Unable to defend their newly won belts, Les Titans' title reign came to a quick end. In the third round, Les Colosses took on fan favorites Heavy Metal Chaos. The crowd was fully expecting to see Heavy Metal Chaos leave as champions, but unfortunately for them, Soprano and his team of masked goons had other plans. Les Colosses retained the titles after Heavy Metal Chaos were decimated by the referee was knocked out.

On January 11th, Kevin Dunn was able to defend his Titre Régional against Nico Marshall and Gaétan L'Amour at MWF Collision. That night also saw Les Fils de la Liberté successfully defend their Championnat par Équipe against ValMFAO. The record books will show that Jeff Racette beat Jake Matthews in the main event but he was unable to win the Championnat de la MWF after Brad Alekxis' interfearence. Subsequently, Steve Ace announced that Jeff Racette will face Raven at No Remorse on April 5th. Also on January 11th at ICW Tournoi Olympic, Les Chiens sales retained their Championnat par Équipe via disqualification against Jean Laurence et Bulldozer.

On January 18th, the main event of NCW's #célébrationurbanmiles was supposed to be Urban Miles vs James Stone. Unfortunately for Stone, he won the match, but not the Championnat Québécois as Soprano and his masked goons rushed the ring and forced the end of the match.

His tactics may be questionable but on January 25th Jake Matthews successfully defended his Championnat MWF against Johnny North at MWF Collision. Kevin Dunn and Nico Marshall's match for the Championnat Régional ended in a no contest after Gaétan L’Amour's interference. Luckily for Nico, Stew Ramjattan came to the rescue. MWF commissioner Steve Ace then came out to announce that the four of them would battle for the Championnat Régional at Whatever it Takes. Les Spoilers took Les Fils de la Liberté to task in their attempt to win the Championnat par Équipe, but unfortunately for them, it wasn't enough to best the champs. Also on January 25th, Théâtre Extrême & FLQ held their Midwinter Gala. Velvet Jones and Jesse Champagne had another great match for the Championnat Open Class. Champagne won by disqualification when Velvet "hit him" with the belt!

Make sure to come back next month as we recap all of the action in February's Title Picture.
